Cooper, Dinsmore Take Top Finishes in Platform

AUSTIN, Texas — The University of Miami diving team finished its trip to the Texas Diving Invite on a high note Saturday afternoon at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center on the Texas campus.

Freshman Zach Cooper and redshirt sophomore David Dinsmore took the top-two finishes in the men’s platform event to cap an impressive weekend for the Hurricanes.

Cooper (459.65), who also impressed in springboard events throughout the course of the weekend, edged out Dinsmore (444.10) for the top finish. Both divers were competing in their top event.

The third-place finisher in the men’s platform, Jordan Windle of Texas, finished nearly 60 points below Dinsmore with 384.70.

Cooper took third in the 1-meter (318.10) on Thursday night and second in the 3-meter finals on Friday night (388.30). He saved the best for last with the top finish Saturday.

Senior Wally Layland was Miami’s top finisher Friday night in the women’s 1-meter, taking third (331.85).
