In addition, it is silent night at the Watsco Center and the student section will be decorated. Students will remain quiet until Miami reaches eight points and then will have a raucous celebration.

The Lady Hornets are the third of four teams Miami meets this season it has not previously faced. The Hurricanes defeated Vermont, fell at Colorado and play Sacramento State next week.

Miami topped then-No. 20/23 Kentucky, 65-54, Sunday afternoon at the Watsco Center, holding the Wildcats to their lowest scoring output of the season and to just six points in the fourth quarter.

Freshman guard Endia Banks had a team-high 13 points and senior forward/center Erykah Davenport tallied a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Freshman guard Mykea Gray added 12 points and redshirt senior guard/forward Shaneese Bailey chipped in with 11.

Alabama State heads into Friday evening’s contest with a 1-7 mark on the year. Senior guard Shamyiah Smith leads the team in scoring at 7.3 points per game. The Lady Hornets went 14-16 (12-6 SWAC) a year ago and were picked third in the SWAC preseason poll.

After facing Alabama State, the Hurricanes travel to San Juan, P.R, where they meet Sacramento State Monday at 4:30 p.m., and Kennesaw State at the same time the following day in the Puerto Rico Classic.
