Women’s Tennis Releases Fall Schedule

CORAL GABLES, Fla. University of Miami head women’s tennis coach Paige Yaroshuk-Tews announced Tuesday the team’s schedule for the upcoming fall season.

The Hurricanes will compete in seven tournaments across five weekends in five states, including hosting the annual Miami Fall Invite Sept. 22-24 at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.

“This schedule offers many opportunities for everyone on the team. Our focus at the end of last season was having a strong fall as a unit, so this will be our start,” Yaroshuk-Tews said. “The team has worked on some things this summer and we’re excited to see those in action come September.”

Miami is set to open the fall in Cary, N.C., home of the 2018 ACC Championship, where it will compete in the Duke Bonk Invitational from Sept. 15-17.

The following weekend, the Hurricanes will be split among multiple tournaments. The majority of the team will stay in Coral Gables and take part in the Miami Fall Invite, which also features Auburn, FGCU and Pittsburgh. The Hurricanes are also expected to be represented at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic, held the same three days, Sept. 22-24, in Fox Point, Wis.

From Sept. 29-Oct. 1, Miami will join numerous other teams from the Sunshine State for the Bedford Cup, set to place in Tampa, Fla.

Hurricanes selected for the Riviera/ITA Women’s All-American Championships will then be in Pacific Palisades, Calif., for the prestigious tournament. It begins Sept. 30 and runs through Oct. 8, with start dates depending on what level of the draw individuals were chosen for.

Miami heads to Athens, Ga., from Oct. 19-23, to take part in the ITA Southeast Regional Championships Presented by Oracle. Following that, the Hurricanes who make the cut for the first Oracle ITA National Fall Championships will be in Indian Wells, Calif., from Nov. 1-5 to wrap up the fall campaign.

The Hurricanes return six letter winners from the 2016-17 team that led Miami to a 17th consecutive winning season.
