Canes in Ninth Place at Schooner Fall Classic

NORMAN, Okla. – Junior golfer Dewi Weber highlighted second round action for the University of Miami women’s golf team on Sunday at the Schooner Fall Classic, as she carded a score of three-under-par, 68.

As a team, Miami is in ninth place with a two-round total of 578. The Hurricanes posted a second round total of 291.

Weber’s second round 68 marked the 18th time in her career she has posted a score of 70-or-less.

The Netherlands native currently is tied for sixth with a two-round total of 140, heading into the final round of play on Monday. She trails individual tournament leader Kristen Gillman (Alabama) by just four strokes.

Weber finished the day with birdies on holes seven, 11, 17 and 18. She also posted pars on 13 holes.

Sophomore Macarena Aguilera also posted a strong second round total as she fired a score of one-under-par, 70. Her second round 70 was a 10-stroke improvement from her opening day total of 80 and is the second lowest single-round score of her collegiate career.

Aguilera is tied for 58th with a tournament total of 150.

Freshman Kristyna Frydlova is tied for 31st with a two-day tally of 145. The Czech Republic native shot a Round 2 score of 77.

Rounding out the Hurricanes’ lineup is Roos Haarman (tied for 49th, 148) and Renate Grimstad (tied for 65th, 152).

Alabama leads all teams with a score of 562.

This year’s event is being held at the par 71, 6,046-yard Belmar Golf Club.

Miami concludes competition tomorrow, beginning at 9:10 a.m. ET. The Hurricanes will tee of on hole No. 10.
