Miami to Play Loyola-Chicago in NCAA Tournament

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami earned an at-large selection into the 2018 NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship on Sunday. The Hurricanes picked up the No. 6 seed in the South Region and are slated to play No. 11 seed Loyola-Chicago on Thursday at American Airlines Center in Dallas. Game time is scheduled for 3:10 p.m. ET/2:10 CT, with truTV broadcasting the contest.

No. 3 seed Tennessee and No. 14 seed Wright State play at 12:40 p.m. ET/11:40 a.m. CT to comprise the other portion of the Hurricanes’ bracket in Dallas.
 
Miami (22-9, 11-7 ACC) is making its 10th NCAA Tournament appearance, including its fourth in Jim Larrañaga’s seven seasons at the helm of the program. The Hurricanes are playing in their third straight NCAA Tournament, matching the program’s longest tournament streak, which was previously set from 1998-2000.
 
Champions of the Missouri Valley Conference, Loyola (28-5, 15-3 MVC) earned a NCAA berth by defeating Illinois State, 65-49, to capture the MVC Tournament title last Sunday. The Ramblers are one of the hottest teams in the country, winners of 17 of their last 18 contests, including 10 straight.
 
Miami is 8-9 all-time in the NCAA Tournament, including 4-3 under Larrañaga. This is Miami’s first-ever meeting with Loyola.
 
Ticket requests for the NCAA First and Second Round are being taken by the Hurricanes Ticket Office from Hurricane Club members only until 5 p.m. ET on Tuesday (March 13). Further information will be communicated if ticket availability remains after the deadline.
