W. Tennis Heads to Sixth-Ranked Georgia Tech

CORAL GABLES, Fla. The University of Miami women’s tennis team will take on its first top-10 opponent of the season Wednesday afternoon.

No. 31 Miami (7-3, 3-0 ACC) is set to square off with sixth-ranked Georgia Tech at 3 p.m., at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex in Atlanta. Live video for the contest will be available HERE and live stats can be found HERE.

The Hurricanes are 11-12 all-time against the Yellow Jackets, including 9-3 since 2010. Miami had its six-match winning streak in the series snapped last season when it dropped a 5-2 road decision on March 14, 2017, exactly one year to the day from this upcoming match.

Miami heads into its showdown in the Peach State with two nationally-ranked singles players. Sophomore Estela Perez-Somarriba leads the way at No. 18 in the nation, while senior Sinead Lohan holds the No. 108 spot.

Additionally, Perez-Somarriba and junior Ana Madcur team together to form the No. 34 doubles pair in the country.

Georgia Tech is 9-2 (3-0 ACC) thus far in 2018 and it too has two singles players in the national rankings. Paige Hourigan places No. 25 on the Oracle/ITA list, while Ida Jarlskog comes in at No. 116.

Hourigan teams with Kenya Jones as the fourth-ranked doubles duo in the nation. Jarlskog and Johnnise Renaud check in at No. 62, while Jones is also ranked No. 68 with Victoria Flores.

Following its matchup with the Yellow Jackets, Miami returns to Coral Gables, where it will host top-ranked North Carolina Friday at 4 p.m.
