Byrne Tabbed to All-ACC Team

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami golfer Sara Byrne earned All-ACC honors for the 2023-24 season, as announced by the conference office Thursday afternoon.

This is Byrne’s first career All-ACC accolade and she is the first Hurricane to be named to the All-ACC Team since Nataliya Guseva in 2021.

“Making the All-ACC Team, which can be easily argued as one of the top conferences in women’s golf, is another stamp of greatness in Sara‘s career as a Miami Hurricane,” head coach Janice Olivencia said. “This is a testament to her hard work and determination and exemplifies what you can achieve when you truly believe in yourself.”

Byrne, a two-time ACC Golfer of the Month honoree this season, is currently the No. 24 individual golfer in the nation and the sixth-best in the ACC, per the national rankings.

The senior has totaled six top-five, finishes in 2023-24, including a pair of victories at the Pat Bradley Invitational and the Hurricane Invitational. Byrne most recently placed fourth at the 2024 ACC Championship with a six-under-par score of 210.

Byrne, whose season scoring average currently sits at 70.16, is on pace to break the Miami program record for single-season scoring average, which is presently held by Renate Grimstad (71.00, 2019-20).

She has already shattered numerous program records this season, including best 18-hole score (63) and best 54-hole score (197). Byrne’s 197 at the Hurricane Invitational put her in elite company as she is one of eight golfers in NCAA Division I history to shoot a 197 or better over 54-holes.

“Sara is the standard that every individual and athlete that comes through this program will try to match and surpass,” Olivencia said. “I am so proud of Sara as I know that making the All-ACC Team was a goal of hers, so I am happy to see her recognized as one of the top collegiate golfers in the country.”

The All-ACC team is determined by a combination of the NCAA-approved individual national rankings and a coaches’ vote. The yearly award winners are selected by a vote of the league’s 12 head coaches.

Byrne and the rest of the Hurricanes are set to take part in the Auburn Regional of the NCAA Golf Championship on May 6-8 in Auburn, Ala.
