Born DeShane Larkin on Oct. 2, 1992, but goes by Shane … Son of Lisa and Barry Larkin, the former Cincinnati Reds 12-time All-Star shortstop and Hall of Fame player … Brother to Cymber and Brielle … Enjoys listening to music and playing video games … Deion Sanders, Larkin’s favorite athlete growing up, gave him the nickname SugaShane … Comes from a long lineage of athletes, including his father as well as his uncles Byron Larkin (Xavier basketball), Mike Larkin (Notre Dame football) and Steve Larkin (Texas baseball) … Larkin originally committed to DePaul in 2010, but was granted a release from the school in August 2011 … He was also recruited by Boston College, George Mason, Colorado and Florida State.
