CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s basketball team returns to action at 7 p.m. Tuesday as it entertains Stephen F. Austin at the Watsco Center in the programs’ first-ever matchup. ESPNU has the television broadcast, while WQAM 560-AM has the local radio broadcast, which also streams on HurricaneSports.com.

Things to Know
• In each of its first three games, Miami plays the preseason favorites in their respective conferences – Lehigh (Patriot League), Stephen F. Austin (Southland) and Bethune-Cookman (MEAC).
• Both UM and SFA played in Dallas in the NCAA Tournament last season (separate sessions).
• Anthony Lawrence II is playing in his 100th career game at Miami.
• Miami hit 14 3-pointers Friday – three shy of a school record.
• Miami blocked nine shots against Lehigh, its most since swatting a dozen against Notre Dame on Jan. 12, 2017.
 
Miami opened its season Friday with an 83-62 home win over Lehigh, as all five starters scored in double figures. Chris Lykes scored a career-high 22 points, while Anthony Lawrence II recorded 19 points and 12 rebounds in his third career double-double.
 
Dejan Vasiljevic finished the night with 16 points, Sam Waardenburg scored 11 and Ebuka Izundu recorded 10 points, nine rebounds and three blocks.
 
Stephen F. Austin opened the season with a pair of home wins last week, downing Texas Wesleyan, 83-71, Tuesday and Southwestern Assemblies of God, 68-67, Thursday. Shannon Bogues, Kevon Harris and TJ Holyfield comprised three of the five members of the Preseason All-Southland Conference Team. SFA has reached the NCAA Tournament four times since 2010 and posted 20 or more wins in six of the last eight seasons. Over the last 10 seasons, SFA ranks eighth nationally in terms of winning percentage.
 
The Tuesday game is Miami’s 2018-19 Fight for Literacy Game. The Miami coaching staff will wear green ties to help raise awareness about the problem of illiteracy.
Coaching for Literacy’s Fight for Literacy Games empower coaches, teams, players and fans to join together to increase child reading levels through awareness, volunteering and fundraising efforts.

The Canes wrap up their season-opening three-game homestand on Saturday with a 2 p.m. contest against Bethune-Cookman. UM heads to the West Coast next week for the Wooden Classic in Fullerton, Calif., opening against La Salle on Thanksgiving Day.
