Templeton Travels to Detroit with U.S. Collegiate National Team

CORAL GABLES, Fla. —  Haley Templeton is set to travel to Detroit, Mich., on Friday to train and compete with the U.S. Women’s Collegiate National Team.

The CNT-Detroit squad, a team of 24 players, will train for five days before competing in what is considered the second tryout for the Women’s National Team. On June 27, the squad will split up into two 12-player teams for three matches at the Cobo Center at the University of Michigan from June 27 through June 30. The USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championships will also be playing in conjunction with the Collegiate National Team.

“It’s a privilege to be selected to the USA Team,” Templeton said. “I’m looking forward to playing with this talented group of girls. I wouldn’t be able to do this without the help of my coaches.”

Templeton is one of four setters to make it Detroit and one of just five Atlantic Coast Conference student-athletes to advance to the second stage.

The setter’s stellar 2017 season concluded with an AVCA All-America Honorable Mention, an All-East Coast Region Selection and a First Team All-ACC honor while accumulating 1,172 assists for an ACC-leading average of 10.77 assists per set. Templeton set a career-high in assists on the road at Duke when she recorded 61 assists as part of Miami’s 22-6 season, which featured the team’s first postseason victory since 2014 in its NCAA tournament run.
