CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Quick Hits gives the University of Miami volleyball fans an inside scoop on the latest additions to the Hurricanes’ roster.

After getting to know Chloe Brown in last week’s edition, this week we find out more on what middle blocker Maya Sullivan thinks of UM so far and what brought her to play for the Hurricanes.

Q&A

Q: Why did you decide to attend the University of Miami?

A: I wanted to attend a school with a strong sense of pride and family atmosphere. Miami felt like my home away from home.

Q: What has your time at Miami been like so far?

A: Exciting, fun, and busy.

Q: What has been your favorite part of being a Hurricane?

A: Bonding with my fellow student-athletes in other sports.

Q: Has anyone taken you under their wing, shown you around and helped with your transition to college? If so, who, and how have they helped you adjust?

A: Taylor Burrell has helped me adjust to college life by showing me the ropes, providing me with helpful tips  and making sure I’m in the right place at the right time. 

Q: What has been the biggest adjustment for you since you arrived?

A: Having to make new friends and form strong relationships. 

Q: Are there any classes you are taking so far that you like?

A: My Evolution of Biosphere class is interesting and challenging.

Q: What made you choose your major?

A: Communication is a strength of mine and I’m passionate about turning it into a career. 

Q: What are you most excited for about being in college?

A: Playing home games and starting the next chapter of my life.

Q: What do you like to do outside of your sport?

A: I enjoy playing sand volleyball and swimming.

My favorite moment in my volleyball career was: Earning the Illinois All-Star Game MVP award my senior year
