Aubone/Hannestad Bound for Semifinals

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Squaring off against Georgia State’s Andrei Duarte and Roberts Grinvalds Sunday morning at the Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex, junior Benjamin Hannestad and sophomore Franco Aubone improved to 7-1 as a doubles tandem this fall, dominating from start to finish, 8-0.
 
The duo will take on Georgia Tech’s Brandon Freestone and Chris Yun in the semifinals on Monday at 9 a.m. The title match will then follow.
 
Also competing in the quarterfinals, redshirt senior Dane Dunlap and junior Bojan Jankulovski dropped a hard-fought match against South Florida’s Rithvik Bollipalli and Jacob Wojcik, 7-8 (3-7).
 
In the lone singles match of the afternoon, junior William Grattan-Smith fell in the back draw quarterfinals against Georgia Tech’s Pablo Schelcher, 3-6, 6-7 (5-7).
 
The singles and doubles champions from each of the ITA Division I Regional Championships held across the country will earn an automatic bid into the 2019 ITA National Fall Championships Nov. 6-10 in Newport Beach, Calif.
