Pinckney, Williams Pick Up ACC Weekly Honors

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Senior linebacker Michael Pinckney and redshirt freshman quarterback Jarren Williams were among those recognized as ACC Football Players of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.

Williams was named ACC Quarterback of the Week and ACC Rookie of the Week, while Pinckney was selected as ACC Linebacker of the Wek.

Williams set the Miami record and tied the ACC standard with six touchdown passes in Saturday’s 52-27 romp of Louisville. Williams, who bested the previous school record of five, connected on a career-long 67-yard touchdown pass and did not throw an interception for the sixth time in seven career starts. He connected on 68.2% of his passes (15-for-22) – his best mark since a Week 4 start vs. Central Michigan – and added a career-high 23 rushing yards in the victory.

Making the final home start of his Hurricanes career, Pinckney delivered a dominant performance on defense in Miami’s Senior Day win. Pinckney finished with a game-high eight tackles (seven solo) and added three tackles for loss, totaling 11 yards, including a six-yard sack. He finished with one quarterback hurry and made the ninth start in 10 games this year, as well as the 45th start of his career in the win.

It was the third ACC Rookie of the Week honor and second ACC Quarterback of the Week honor for Williams this season, and first recognition of the year for Pinckney.
