CORAL GABLES, Fla. The University of Miami is one of four schools whose women’s tennis teams will take part in the inaugural Pink Flamingo Invitational at Baha Mar Resort in Nassau, Bahamas.

Held Jan. 10-12 at the island’s newest resort destination, the event will begin the Hurricanes’ 2020 spring campaign. Joining Miami in the loaded field are seven-time NCAA champion Florida, two-time NCAA champion Texas and two-time NCAA champion UCLA.

“We are thrilled to host these four iconic college tennis programs at the inaugural Baha Mar Pink Flamingo Invitational,” said Karin Salinas, Senior Vice President, Marketing, Baha Mar Resort. “This beautiful resort destination is the ultimate getaway for sports enthusiasts and avid tennis fans, and we’re honored to showcase world-class athletics and bring inspiring talent to the islands of the Bahamas.”

The four teams feature a total of 13 nationally-ranked singles players, including three in the ITA’s top six and five in the top 14. Atop the list is third-ranked Estela Perez-Somarriba, a Miami senior and the reigning NCAA singles champion.

Over the course of the three-day event, the teams will compete for the Pink Flamingo Cup, squaring off in both singles and doubles matches at the Baha Mar Tennis Club.
