CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Following three consecutive road matchups, the University of Miami women’s basketball team will play its first home game in 17 days Sunday at noon.
No. 14 Miami (22-6, 10-3 ACC) is set for its second in-state, top-25 showdown of the season against No. 22/20 Florida State, as the Hurricanes host their annual pink game at the Watsco Center.
The action will be broadcast on ESPN2, as well as available HERE, with Pam Ward and Carolyn Peck on the call. Additionally, the contest will be carried live on WVUM 90.5 FM HERE and live stats can be found HERE.
As is the case at all home games, team schedule cards will be available at the marketing table by the main entrance, which will also have “I Play For…” signs. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive shirts from the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. In addition, there will be a pink Snapchat filter for the game.
Miami is 14-45 all-time against Florida State, in a series that dates back to the 1974-75 season. In the first meeting between the two sides this season, the then-No. 24/21 Seminoles logged a narrow 62-58 home victory on Jan. 31.
The Hurricanes dropped a 73-65 decision Thursday night at Virginia Tech in their last outing, snapping a 15-game winning streak over the Hokies. Redshirt junior forward Beatrice Mompremier logged 18 points and 15 rebounds to reach 20 double-doubles on the season, while sophomore guard Mykea Gray paced Miami with 20 points. Redshirt junior guard Laura Cornelius and senior forward/center Emese Hof tallied 11 points apiece for the Hurricanes.
Florida State sports a 21-5 (9-4 ACC) record thus far in 2018-19, but has dropped two if its last three outings. Redshirt junior forward Kiah Gillespie paces the team in both scoring and rebounding, averaging 16.8 points and 8.6 boards per game.
Following a 26-7 (12-4 ACC) campaign in 2017-18 that included an appearance in the NCAA Tournament Round of 32, the Seminoles were voted No. 8/7 in the ACC preseason polling.
After playing Florida State, Miami hosts Georgia Tech Feb. 28 at 7 p.m. in its regular season home finale on senior day at the Watsco Center, live on RSN.
