Miami hosts Boston College and UConn in Doubleheader

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – On the heels of Friday afternoon’s thrilling victory over No. 11 Notre Dame, the University of Miami men’s tennis team will welcome Boston College and Connecticut to the Neil Schiff Tennis Center on Sunday.

No. 36 Miami (12-4, 4-0 ACC) and the Eagles will hit the court at 2 p.m., with the affair set to be broadcast live on ACC Network Extra HERE. At 6 p.m., the Hurricanes will return to action against the Huskies, with live stats accessible for both contests HERE.

Friday’s match will mark the 16th meeting between the Canes and Eagles, with Miami holding a commanding 13-2 advantage in the series. The Hurricanes are a perfect 7-0 when hosting BC, sweeping Boston College, 7-0, on April 7, 2017 at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center. However, in the most recent contest, the Eagles snapped a six-match losing streak in the series, earning a 4-3 home win over Miami on April 15, 2018.

This year, the Hurricanes enter the match focusing on extending their current four-match winning streak, while also looking to open ACC action 5-0 for the first time since joining the conference prior to the 04-05 season. With a victory over Notre Dame on Friday, the Hurricanes improved to 8-0 at home this year, while holding a 20-2 ledger at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center since the start of the 2018 season.

The Canes are led by a pair of sophomores featured on the Oracle/ITA national singles list, with Adria Soriano Barrera coming in at No. 19 and Jankulovski ranked No. 71.

Boston College (4-7, 0-4 ACC) enters the contest on a five-match losing streak, most recently suffering a 7-0 sweep at Florida State on Friday.

Friday’s meeting with Connecticut, will mark only the second meeting between the programs and first in 24 years. Miami picked up a dominating 5-0 victory in the lone matchup played on April 21, 1995.

UConn (7-9, 0-2 AAC) enters the match on four-match losing streak, suffering a 7-0 defeat on Friday against UAB.

Following Sunday’s pair of matches, Miami will continue ACC action on the road, beginning with a trip to Durham, N.C., on Friday at 5 p.m. to face No. 44 Duke. The Hurricanes will then battle seventh-ranked North Carolina in Chapel Hill, N.C., at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
