Men's Tennis Faces UNC in Top-25 Showdown

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – In the second of three consecutive road matches, the University of Miami men’s tennis team returns to the Tar Heel State to battle No. 11 North Carolina on Sunday.

No. 23 Miami (15-4, 6-0 ACC) and UNC will hit the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center courts at 2 p.m., with live stats accessible HERE.

Friday’s match will mark the 40th meeting between the Canes and Tar Heels, with UM leading the all-time series 23-16. However, North Carolina enters the contest riding a six-match winning streak in the series, most recently defeating Miami, 4-0, on April 22, 2018.

This season, the Hurricanes enter the match looking to extend their current seven-match winning streak, with Miami coming off a thrilling comeback victory on the road against Duke Friday night, 4-3. The current stretch is tied for the longest since 2004, when the Hurricanes opened 9-0. Overall, with a perfect 6-0 mark, the Canes are off to the best conference start in program history since joining the ACC prior to the 2004-05 season.

The Canes are led by a pair of sophomores featured on the Oracle/ITA national singles list, with Adria Soriano Barrera coming in at No. 27 and Bojan Jankulovski ranked No. 81.

North Carolina (11-3, 3-1 ACC) enters the match following a 4-1 home victory over No. 20 Oklahoma on Friday. The Tar Heels have a quartet of student-athletes in the national singles rankings, No. 26 William Blumberg, No. 37 Benjamin Siguoin, No. 109 Joshua Peck and No. 110 Brian Cernoch.

In doubles, Blumberg and Bo Boyden form the nation’s No. 53 doubles pair, while Boyden teams up with Anudeep Kodali to form the No. 62 tandem.

Following Sunday’s match, Miami will wrap up its road stretch with a trip to Louisville, Ky., when it faces Louisville Friday at 4 p.m.
