Harlond Beverly Signs with Canes MBB

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami men’s basketball head coach Jim Larrañaga announced Wednesday the signing of Harlond Beverly for the 2019-20 school year. A 6-foot-4, 170-pound combo guard out of Montverde Academy in Montverde, Fla., Beverly is rated as a four-star recruit and the No. 59 player in the class of 2019, according to Rivals.

Beverly joins Isaiah Wong and Anthony Walker in the Hurricanes’ 2019-20 recruiting class. Wong and Walker signed with UM during the November signing period. With the addition of Beverly, Miami’s incoming recruiting class moved to No. 25 nationally in the 247Sports team recruiting rankings.

“We are excited to welcome Harlond Beverly to the Hurricane family,” Larrañaga said. “He is a multidimensional guard with great athleticism and is one of the most rapidly improving players in his class after a great senior year for head coach Kevin Boyle and assistant coach Rae Miller at the prestigious Montverde Academy program. Harland also played for very good AAU basketball program, the REACH Legends in Michigan, where he was coached by Marcus Webster and Mike Allie. He comes from a great family, his father, Clayton Holmes and mother, Rebecca Holmes, and is familiar with the state of Florida. We are thrilled to add such a dynamic player to our program.”

A native of Farmington Hills, Michigan, Beverly joined Montverde Academy’s team this season for his senior season in high school after previously attending Southfield Christian, where the team won a state championship during his junior year with Beverly racking up 23 points, eight rebounds, eight steals, six blocks and four assists in the title game.

Beverly led Montverde Academy to 22-3 record and a semifinals finish at the GEICO High School Nationals. Beverly scored a team-high 23 points in the national semis against IMG Academy.

Currently Beverly is ranked as the No. 82 player in the class of 2019 according to the 247Sports Composite Ranking. He is rated the No. 11 combo guard nationally and the No. 12 overall recruit in Florida by 247Sports. He also is rated 59th by Rivals and 95th in the ESPN100.
