CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Jumping 10 spots in the Oracle/ITA singles rankings, University of Miami men’s tennis sophomore Adria Soriano Barrera sits at No. 32 nationally, as announced Tuesday afternoon.

Adding 2.757 points to his average from last week and 5.777 over the past two, Soriano Barrera ranks eighth among ACC individuals and achieved the third-largest leap among current top-40 individuals.

Competing at the ACC Championship, the sophomore notched a pair of top-100 victories. In the opening round against Clemson, Soriano Barrera led the Canes to a 4-0 sweep, defeating then-No. 92 Simon Baudry, 6-3, 6-3. In the quarterfinals, the Barcelona, Spain, native dominated No. 21 Alexis Galarneau of NC State, 6-4, 6-4.

Overall, rising 23 spots over the past two ranking releases, Soriano Barrera looks to see his name in the NCAA Singles Championship press release, set to be announced Tuesday, April 30 at 6 p.m.

Last season, the sophomore teamed up with Christian Langmo in the NCAA Doubles Championship and reached the Round of 16, becoming the first Miami duo to make the tournament since Daniel Vallverdu and Carl Sundberg earned a bid in 2008.

Joining Soriano Barrera in the rankings, sophomore Bojan Jankulovski sits at No. 90 in the latest computer-generated list. Competing at No. 4 singles, the Skopje, Macedonia, native enters the NCAA team championship riding a four-match winning streak, while also maintaining a perfect 4-0 singles mark through the month of April.

While at the ACC Championship, the sophomore topped Clemson’s Mike Agee, 6-1, 6-4, before besting NC State’s Robert Turzak, 6-2, 6-4.

As a team, Miami (17-10, 7-5 ACC) sits at No. 32 in the national poll, after reaching the ACC Championship quarterfinals for the first time since 2011.

The Hurricanes will now await their seeding and placement in the NCAA Team Championship, with the selection show scheduled to air April 29 at 6 p.m. on NCAA.com.
