UM Athletics Announces Completion of Boich Family Scoreboard

CORAL GABLES, Fla. Miami Athletics announced Wednesday the completion of the new Boich Family Scoreboard at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center, a state-of-the-art videoboard that will be used to display scores and highlights for all Hurricanes home tennis matches.

The scoreboard was funded by former Miami men’s tennis student-athlete, Wayne Boich, and his wife, Cynthia. Now a prominent business leader and philanthropist, Boich has stayed connected to The U and involved with the men’s and women’s tennis programs.

The Daktronics videoboard spans 33.6 by 16.8 feet, with an elite pixel pitch of 10mm. It is one of the largest high-resolution video displays at any collegiate tennis facility in the country, including the largest installed by Daktronics.

“We are thrilled and thankful to Wayne and his family for their generous donation to fund this videoboard,” Director of Athletics Blake James said. “This new board will no doubt enhance the fan experience at our men’s and women’s tennis matches. It’s always gratifying to see former student-athletes like Wayne seeking ways to give back to the programs that mean so much to them.”

“As a former UM tennis player and alumnus who follows the teams with excitement, it is a priority for me to give back to the program and the University,” Boich said. “I love the game, and Cynthia and I truly wanted to support the student-athletes and provide them with the very best environment in which to compete.”

The videoboard is the latest in a long line of updates to the Neil Schiff Tennis Center over the past several years. Recently, the entire tennis building was rebranded with imagery on the walls celebrating the men’s and women’s programs’ rich histories, while an academic study area was added on the top floor.
