M. Tennis Wraps up Play in Georgia

ATHENS, Ga. – The University of Miami men’s tennis team wrapped up play at the 52nd annual Southern Intercollegiate Championships on Sunday, hosted by Georgia at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.
 
In the back draw finals, junior Benjamin Hannestad improved to 3-1 in singles play over the weekend, besting Texas’ Eshan Talluri, 6-1, 6-1.
 
In doubles, Hannestad teamed up with sophomore Franco Aubone in the Red Doubles championship match against Texas’ Christian Sigsgaard and Siem Woldeab. The UM duo dropped the match, 0-6.
 
Also competing in the back draw title match of his respective bracket, Aubone came up short against Georgia’s Erik Grevelis, 3-6, 3-6.
 
The Hurricanes will return to action for the prestigious ITA Men’s All-American Championship, where juniors Adria Soriano Barrera and Bojan Jankulovski, along with sophomore Francisco Bastias are set to compete. The trio will battle the nation’s best in Tulsa, Okla., with tournament action set to get underway Friday.
