CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s basketball team will play its first of three consecutive road games Wednesday night.

The Hurricanes are 23-17 all-time against Virginia Tech, including 7-9 on the road and 13-7 under ninth-year head coach Jim Larrañaga. In the first meeting between the two teams this year, Miami registered a 71-61 home victory Jan. 28, despite the absence of leading scorer Chris Lykes, a junior guard, due to a groin injury.

In its last outing, Miami tallied a 71-54 victory over Wake Forest Saturday afternoon at the Watsco Center. Lykes and freshman guard Isaiah Wong co-led the Hurricanes with 13 points apiece, while redshirt junior guard Kameron McGusty and senior guard Dejan Vasiljevic each had 11.

The Hurricanes, who had nine scholarship players available for the first time since Jan. 4, held the Demon Deacons to their co-lowest point total of the year.

Virginia Tech is 15-10 (6-8 ACC) on the year and is coming off a 67-57 home win over Pittsburgh Saturday that snapped a five-game losing skid. Redshirt freshman guard/forward Landers Nolley II is the team’s leading scorer at 17.2 points per game, good for fourth-best in the ACC.

The Hokies went 26-9 (12-6) during the 2018-19 campaign and reached the NCAA Sweet 16 before being picked No. 14 in the ACC preseason poll this year.

After facing Virginia Tech, Miami will make the trip to Notre Dame, Ind., for a Sunday evening contest at Purcell Pavilion against Notre Dame at 6 p.m., live on ACC Network.
