Three Canes Selected on Final Day of 2024 NFL Draft
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Three Miami Hurricanes were selected Saturday on the third and final day of the 2024 National Football League Draft.
Cornerback Jaden Davis was selected in the seventh round (226th overall) by the Arizona Cardinals. Davis started 12 games for the Canes in 2023 after transferring from Oklahoma. He registered 42 tackles, three tackles for loss, one sack and two forced fumbles. He had a season-high eight tackles in Miami’s win over Texas A&M, earning ACC Defensive Back of the Week honors.
Center Matt Lee was selected in the seventh round (237th overall) by the Cincinnati Bengals. Lee started all 12 regular season games for the Canes after transferring from UCF. Lee played a key role on an offensive line that was named to the midseason honor roll for the Joe Moore Award, and he earned second-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors.
Safety James Williams was also selected in the seventh round (242nd overall) by the Tennessee Titans. Williams started all 12 regular season games and finished second on the team with 73 tackles, adding five passes defensed, one interception, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.
On Friday defensive back Kam Kinchens was selected in the third round (99th overall) by the Los Angeles Rams. A two-time first-team All-ACC selection, Kinchens became the first Hurricane since the late Sean Taylor to record double digit interceptions over the course of his career. His 11 picks were tied for the eighth-most career interceptions in program history.
Miami’s streak of 50 straight years with at least one NFL Draft pick, dating back to 1975, is the fourth-longest active streak of any FBS program nationwide.
