Fourth-year senior who will be looked upon to provide much needed strength on the boards and leadership as Miami heads into BIG EAST competition … Has tremendous wingspan (nearly seven feet from fingertip to fingertip) and is a great leaper … Has good shot-blocking instincts and tends to play much bigger than 6-4 … can be and excellent rebounder with use of quickness around the basket … Signed a national letter of intent to attend Miami in April of 1988 … Is one of two Hurricanes from the state of Texas along with Hammie Ward.

As a Junior (1990-91)

Appeared in 26 contests with seven starts to his credit … Started the fist seven contest as Miami used three forwards in the lineup following Jake Morton’s injury … Sank nine-of-14 free throws in the season-opener vs. George Mason en route to a career-high 17 points … Also added a personal-best five steals vs. GMU … Averaged 4.3 rebounds as a starter … Saw reserve action at the three and four positions throughout the season … Tallied nine points and six rebounds off the bench at St. Joseph’s … Had another fine outing in rematch with St. Joseph’s with 11 points and five rebounds … Tallied three-point field goals vs. both Southern Methodist and Kansas … Shot 50% or better from the field in 10 of 19 games in which he attempted a FG.

As a Sophomore (1989-90)

Appeared in 18 games with seven starting roles at the four position… Fired in 10 points, including tow-of-three three-pointers while adding four steals vs. Baptist … Led Miami with career-best 12 rebounds and two blocks in the Canes 87-82 win over Dayton … Recorded his third straight double-figure game and tied a career-high with 15 points vs. Alabama State … Also added eight rebounds vs. the Hornets … Tallied 10 points on five-of-seven from the field and pulled down seven rebound vs. Lehigh … Sat our four straight games (2/3-12) and returned in strong fashion for the Central Connecticut game by scoring 11 points and pulling down five rebounds.

As a Freshman (1988-89)

Developed into a key player earning four starting assignments … Most duty came when spelling former Canes Eric Brown and Dennis Burns … Played in 30 games while starting four … An excellent shooter who knocked in 53.6% of his shots … Had four points, three rebounds and two assists in 12 minutes of action in his first collegiate game vs. Maryland-Eastern Shore … Had a 12-point effort vs. Long Island on perfect three-for-three from the field and six-of-six from the charity stripe … Also added six rebounds in 17 minutes vs. the Blackbirds … Was in the lineup for tipoff in the final two games of the Chaminade Christmas Classic vs. Eastern Illinois and Old Dominion where his two game totals reached 11 points, 12 rebounds, four assists, and three steals … Had 14 points on four-of-six field goals and six-of-seven free throws vs. Pennsylvania … Put together three games in double figures vs. Providence (11 pts.), Marquette (11 pts.) and New Mexico (15 pts.) when Joe Wylie and Mark Richardson were sidelined with injuries … 15 points vs. the Lobos and eight boards vs. the Warriors were career highs … Other double figure game came vs. Texas – 11 points on three-of-four field goals and five-of-six free throws while adding four rebounds and two steals in just 10 minutes of playing time.

High School

Three-year starter as a guard/forward swingman … In his senior year, led Terry High School to a 28-7 record and the 25-5A District Championship, considered one of the top three districts in Texas … THS was 25-7 (District runner-up) in his junior season and 21-9 during his sophomore campaign … Led district in scoring (23.3 ppg), assists (7.4 apg), and was second in rebound (9.6 rpg) … Was a unanimous choice as District MVP … Also earned second-team All-Greater Houston and third-team Texas HS Sportswriters All-State kudos … Coached by Fletcher Walker.
