CAREER: Spent much of his career as a reserve in the offensive line… was a valuable deep snapper his last two seasons…entered the 2002 season as the backup at right guard…versatile performer who has the ability to play any position on the offensive line…should be a valuable reserve.

2002 (SENIOR): Split the deep snapping duties with eventual full-time starter Chris Harvey for the season’s first six games, handling snaps on punts…successfully handled the snapping duties throughout the last half of the 2001 season, working exclusively in that area after working as a backup right tackle behind All-American Joaquin Gonzalez.

2001 (JUNIOR): Stepped into the role of deep snapper in the Florida State game when starter Chris Harvey injured a knee…successfully handled the snapping duties throughout the last half of the season, working exclusively in that area after working as a backup right tackle behind All-American Joaquin Gonzalez.

2000 (SOPHOMORE): Saw extensive action as a reserve offensive lineman…was one of the most improved members of an outstanding offensive line that was to blame for only three quarterback sacks in 340 passing attempts…helped the Hurricanes set a single-season scoring record (42.6 points per game) while producing a 1,000-yard rusher (James Jackson).

1999 (FRESHMAN): Member of an offensive line that only allowed 20 sacks all season, while averaging more than 400 yards per contest…helped the Hurricanes to an average of over 170 yards per game on the ground.

1998 (REDSHIRT): One of 15 members of the 1998 recruiting class to redshirt.

HIGH SCHOOL: Western…Florida Times-Union Super 75 and Times-Union’s No. 2-rated center…a Sun-Sentinel Super Senior…second team All-County selection by the Miami Herald and Sun-Sentinel… was an honorable mention selection as a junior…played on both sides of the ball as a senior seeing time at offensive tackle and center and at defensive end and tackle…also returned three punts, with a 52-yard average per return and a long of 70 yards…on defense, had 25 total tackles, three sacks, two fumbles caused and one fumble recovery as a senior…played on team that led Broward County in rushing and pass efficiency…graded out at 90 percent as a senior…also lettered in basketball and track & field…coached by Jack Chapman.

PERSONAL: Born 2/2/80…liberal arts major…full name is Joseph Vincent Fantigrassi…was an honor roll student in high school…graduated early from high school and enrolled at Miami in the Spring of 1998…both parents are officers with the Broward County Sheriffs Office…father played defensive tackle at Memphis State, while grandfather and uncle were lettermen at Auburn…chose the Hurricanes over Florida State, Virginia Tech and Central Florida…son of Tony and Kathy Fantigrassi.
