CAREER: A frontrunner for the Thorpe Award and All-America honors who is widely considered college football’s top returning defensive back…excellent cover corner who has exceptional closing ability and is one of the team’s fastest players…a first-team All-Big East Conference selection by the league’s head coaches in 2003…also a threat as a punt returner…has started 25 of Miami’s last 26 games over the last two seasons, missing one game in 2003…has been virtually impenetrable in man coverage, having shut out top receivers such as Pittsburgh’s Larry Fitzgerald…sports adminstration major.

2002 (JUNIOR): Ranked fifth on the team with 51 tackles (42 solos)…had two interceptions, including one for a touchdown against Louisiana Tech…seven pass breakups…recorded 3.5 tackles for loss (22 yards) and one sack (10 yards)…forced one fumble…started all 12 games he played…opened the season with three solo tackles and one assist at Louisiana Tech…had a 30-yard interception return for a touchdown and returned a punt for 66 yards and a touchdown…named the BIG EAST Conference Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance…made four solo stops and broke up one pass in Miami’s comeback win over Florida at the Orange Bowl…followed that with another four solo tackles against East Carolina, including a TFL for minus-10 yards and a forced fumble…made three tackles at Boston College…had two solo stops and two assisted tackles against West Virginia…made six tackles (five solo), including half a TFL for two yards and one pass breakup…registered two solo stops against Temple with one tackle for loss (four yards)…had three solo stops and one assist at Virginia Tech…returned to match his career high in tackles with eight (six solo) against Syracuse, including one tackle for loss (seven yards)…picked off his second pass of the season against Rutgers…also broke up three passes against the Scarlet Knights and made two solo tackles…made five solo stops and one assisted tackle in UM’s Big East Conference clinching win at Pittsburgh…made four tackles (three solos) and broke up two passes in the FedEx Orange Bowl Classic victory over Florida State.

2002 (SOPHOMORE): Earned All-Big East Conference first-team honors by the league’s head coaches in his first season as a starter at cornerback…credited with 66 total tackles, 48 solos, along with six tackles for losses totalling 22 yards, two quarterback sacks (13 yards), recovered three fumbles, intercepted one pass, had two quarterback hurries and broke up seven passes…had four tackles (two unassisted) against Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl…made eight stops (six solos), including two for losses and one quarterback sack, against Virginia Tech…credited with seven solo tackles, one for a loss, at Syracuse…made seven tackles (four solos) against Pittsburgh…recorded two tackles, including a sack for a 12-yard loss, and broke up a pass against Tennessee…made eight tackles and broke up a pass against Rutgers…made five tackles, including three solo-tackles against West Virginia…recorded three tackles (2 solos), recovered a fumble on a punt return, and broke up a pass against Florida State…had one tackle against Connecticut…recorded five tackles (2 solo), recovered a fumble, returned an interception 22 yards, and broke up two passes against Boston College…had five solo tackles and one assist, with a tackle for a one yard loss against Temple…had two tackles (one solo) and a pass deflection against Florida…had an interception against the Gators nullified by a penalty…started at cornerback in the season opener against Florida A&M and had five solo tackles and recovered a fumble.

2001 (FRESHMAN): Earned significant playing time as a true freshman in 2001…one of four true freshmen to see action…played extensively on special teams and in nickel and dime coverage packages…made nine tackles overall and broke up two passes…made three tackles in the season opener at Penn State…intercepted a pass in the win over Washington.
