Blake Postma was hired as Assistant Director of Academic Advising for Football at the University of Miami in the Fall of 2023.

Prior to the University of Miami, Postma spent the last 13 years as a Learning Specialist at the University of Oregon. In this capacity, Postma had a significant impact on the academic progress and development with the football and men’s basketball programs. Notably Postma guided the men’s basketball program to a perfect 1000 APR in 2021-2022. Postma provided academic support in individual and group sessions, trained and supervised tutor cohorts on instructional strategies, lead bridge workshops, while also working with post-eligible student athletes toward degree completion.

Before the University of Oregon, Postma served as a graduate assistant in the Academic Performance Center at West Virginia University. In this role, he assisted in providing academic services to 18 varsity teams including the tutorial program, textbook distribution, general academic advising, and the annual academic awards and honor roll banquet. Postma also worked with student athletes in the WVU Academic Success Program providing instruction on fundamental learning strategies, note-taking, test-taking, and time management skills to foster academic success.

Postma started his career serving as a Learning Coordinator in the University of Michigan football program. In this position, Postma played an integral role in the academic success of student-athletes by facilitating academic services and collaborating closely with academic staff and administration. Prior to this he served as a student manager for the Michigan football program.

Originally from Holland, Michigan, Postma received his B.A. in Psychology from the University of Michigan and his MA in Community Counseling from West Virginia University.
